Es war einmal...

 In einer Stadt im hohen Norden Deutschlands, Kiel, als Andre R. Asana Funkhauser, sich daran machte, ein creative commons Netlabel zu gründen. Ein Label für die etwas speziellere Musik, sei es elektronischer Art oder ganz klassisch akustische Klaviermusik. Spheredelic taufte er dieses Label, und sein musikalisches Kind ist nun 10 Jahre alt. Aber das ist nicht der einzige Meilenstein, nein nein, den mit der heutigen Veröffentlichung ist ein weiterer dazugekommen:

Und zu diesem feierlichen Anlass gibt es für euch, unsere treuen Zuhörer einen akustischen Querschnitt durch unser Portfolio, ein Potpourri diversester Stile und Genre. Über 17 brandneuer Tracks stehen für euch nun zum kostenfreien Download bereit. Und wie von Spheredelic gewohnt, ist die Bandbreite der Genres breit gestreut, von melodischen Klavierstücken über Drone-ambient zu verspulter IDM bis hin zu kruden Soundscapes ist mal wieder alles mit dabei!

Hier geht´s zur 100 Veröffentlichung

Auf den Tag vor 5 Jahren, am 30. November 2010, wurde Spheredelic als Netlabel in Kiel gegründet und steht seither für Ambient, Avantgarde und experimentelle Musik. Wir sind stolz auf jeden unserer Künstler und jede der 45 Veröffentlichungen und sind positiv gespannt auf das, was die Zukunft bringen wird.

Gerade in den letzten Monaten hat sich bei uns einiges getan. Nach vielen Überlegungen und Ideen, haben wir es nun endlich geschafft unserer Website ein neues Design zu verpassen. Sie sieht jetzt nicht nur besser aus, sondern reagiert auch responsiv auf mobile Endgeräte. Mit dem Redesign haben wir unseren treuen Hörern auch die Möglichkeit geschaffen den Künstlern eine Spende über PayPal zukommen zu lassen. Auch möchten wir an dieser Stelle auf unseren neuen YouTube-Kanal hinweisen, den wir nach und nach mit Musikvideos füttern werden.

In den kommenden Monaten steht unter anderem unsere 50. Veröffentlichung auf dem Plan. Für diese (und auch die darauf folgende Veröffentlichung) werden wir euch einen Sampler zusammenstellen. 5 Jahre Spheredelic ist also nicht nur ein Anlass zum Feiern, sondern auch gut für einen musikalisches Resümee.

Wir möchten uns noch einmal herzlich bei euch allen bedanken! Vielen Dank an unsere Hörer, unsere Künstler und an alle unsere Mitarbeiter und Mitdenker, ohne die gar nichts gehen würde. Wir freuen uns ein Teil der weltweiten Musikgemeinschaft zu sein und werden euch auch die nächsten 5 Jahre treu bleiben!

5 years ago, on 30 November 2010, Spheredelic was founded as a netlabel in Kiel and stands since then for Ambient, Avantgarde and experimental music. We are proud of each of our artists and each of the 45 Publikation and we are positively looking forward to what the future will bring.

Especially in recent months a lot of things has changed. After many considerations and ideas, we have finally managed it, our website now has a new design. It looks not only better, it also reacts responsive to mobile devices. With the redesign, we have to have created the opportunity to our faithful listeners to donate the artists with some money via PayPal. Please also note at this point on our new YouTube channel, which we will feed them gradually with music videos.

In the coming months, among other things, our 50th release is scheduled. For this (and the following publications), we are compiling a sampler. 5 years Spheredelic is not only an occasion for celebration, but also good for a musical summary.

We would like to thank again all of you! Thanks to our listeners, our artists and to all our employees and co-thinkers, without you nothing is gonna work. We are pleased to be a part of the global music community and stay loyal to you for the next 5 years

Im September präsentiert Spheredelic die EP „Vermillion“ von Arkhitekt.

Das japanische Projekt Arkhitekt besteht aus dem Duo Kaetsu Takahashi und Tia Rungray. Kaetsu Takahashi veröffentlichte bereits auf Spheredelic sein Solo-Projekt Sabachthani.

Arkhitekt führen den Zuhörer durch melodische Eskapaden zu den Gefilden der Neuen Musik. Kontemplative Pianoklänge werden durchkreuzt durch rhythmische Störgeräusche, als ob sie ihre kunstvoll gestalteten Soundscapes in Frage stellen wollten. Ein klares Statement zur medialen Schizophrenie der postmodernen Ära wird konstatiert. Aus der bedrohlichen und destruktiven Verneinung erklimmt das lebensbejahende Gitarrenspiel Kaetsus – als ob eine Blume aus postindustriellen Ruinen ersprießt.

Der musikalische Ansatz ist neuartig, verstörend und poetisch zugleich. Er erzeugt Harmonie in der Fragmentierung und findet Sinn in der Dekonstruktion.

In September Spheredelic presents the EP „Vermillion“ by Arkhitekt.

The Japanese project Arkhitekt consists of the duo Kaetsu Takahashi and Tia Rungray. Kaetsu Takahashi previously released his solo project Sabachthani on Spheredelic.

Arkhitekt guide the listener by their melodic escapades towards the realms of New Music. Contemplative piano sounds are crossed by rhythmic disturbing noises as if they intended to question their artfully designed soundscapes. A clear statement is noted about postmodernity´s medial schizophrenia. From the alarming and destructive negation arises Kaestsu´s life-affirming guitar play – like a flower growing in postindustrial ruins.

The musical approach is novel, unsettling and poetic at the same time. It creates harmony in the fragmentation and defines sense in the deconstruction.

Das erste Album, das wir euch im September präsentieren, trägt den Titel „A few Subsequences“ und wurde von dem japanischen Künstler Keikichi Kimishima kreiert. Es besteht aus drei Stücken, welche sich jeweils dem Klang und der Wirkung bestimmter Materialien und Substanzen widmen. Es werden bestimmte Bilder und Empfindungen beim Hörenden hervorgerufen, was dem Werk einen starken Kunstcharakter verleiht.

Das Album wird mit dem Geräusch aufeinander fallender Glasscherben eingeleitet. Darauf folgt das ungewöhnliche Geräusch des Speichelflusses, welches uns durch Besuche beim Zahnarzt bekannt ist. Abschließend hören wir das Geräusch von Papier, das sich bis zu einem Sturm ähnlichen Geräusch zu steigern vermag. Begleitet werden sämtliche Stücke durch minimalistische, aber sehr kunstvoll eingesetzte und mit verschiedenen Effekten belegte Gitarre-Improvisation.

The first album we present to you in September is titled "A few Subsequences" and was created by the Japanese artist Keikichi Kimishima. It contains three tracks, wich are dedicated to the sound of certain materials and substances. Every single one brings different images and effetcs to the mind of the listener, which gives the work a strong character of art.

The album starts with the sound of falling glass pieces. It is followed by the unusual sound of the salivar, which is known to us from visits at the dentist. Finally, we hear the sound of paper, which increases itself to a storm of noise. All pieces are accompanied by minimalist, but very artfully used and various effected guitar improvisation.

We wish you a healthy and successful year 2018! Perhaps you have already asked yourself where the new release has been? Don't worry! We're just taking a creative break. For 7 years we have continuously provided you with new music from the fields of ambient, Avantgarde and experimental Music. Now it is time to take a breath and recharging energy. Probably in April we will be there for you again. 

At the end of this year we will publish our 100th Release! For the purpose of this jubilee we are planning an own Release and would be happy to receive your inquiries! Of course we will reply promptly despite the time-out. 

Friends from Kiel and the area can look forward to another Spheredelic-Party with a live-program and an Aftershow-party! The "Superalma Project" will be in Kiel on February 3, 2018 and will celebrate the release of the album "Cura Circum Animum Mei Intorquet Ut In Sella Mei Sedeo" on cassette in the Medusahof. Furthermore "Somnambule" will play live and give you a crossover- performance. The Aftershow-party takes place under the motto "LIMIT 110BPM" and invites you to linger and dance until the early morning hours.

Wir wünschen euch ein gesundes und erfolgreiches Jahr 2018! Vielleicht habt ihr euch schon gefragt, wo die neue Veröffentlichung geblieben ist? Keine Sorge! Wir legen nur eine kreative Pause ein. 7 Jahre haben wir euch kontinuierlich mit neuer Musik aus den Bereichen Ambient, Avantgarde und experimenteller Musik versorgt. Nun ist die Zeit zum Luftholen und um frische Energie zu tanken. Voraussichtlich im April werden wir wieder für euch da sein.

Zum Ende diesen Jahres steht auch unsere 100. Veröffentlichung an! Zwecks des Jubiläums planen wir eine eigene Veröffentlichung und würden uns sehr über eure Anfragen freuen! Natürlich werden wir trotz der Auszeit zeitnah antworten. 

Freunde aus Kiel und Umgebung dürfen sich auf eine weitere Spheredelic-Party mit Live- Programm und Aftershow-Party freuen! Am 3. Da hat der Osterhase seinen Job gut gemacht, denn siehe da, jetzt erst finden wir ein buntes Körbchen mit Musik! Für uns, also auch für euch, sowieso für alle, ist doch Creative Commons :)

Somit stellen wir euch im April 'Control' von 'mnogo_chelovecheskikh' vor, eine 7-Track EP des aus St. Petersburg stammenden Künstlers Leonid Shelukhin.

Das Motif seiner EP 'Control' umschreibt er als eine dystopische, von Computern und KIs beherrschte Welt, die Menschen geben sich der Technologie hingeben, werden emotional immer stumpfer bis sie irgendwann den Blick für die wahre Schönheit der Natur, des Moments vergessen haben. Statt sich zu hetzen zu lassen, Kontrolle über sich zu behalten, achtsam die Natur, dieses ultimativ komplexe System, bewundern.Hauptsächlich die Indietronic Musik der 2000er (The Postal Service, Lali Puna, The Notwist) aber auch traditionelle russische Volksmusik haben ihn bei der Entstehung seines Kunstwerkes aus Musik, Text und Bookletdesign inspiriert.

In rasantem Wechsel spiegelt sich das Motif in der Trackfolge, diese Disharmonie zwischen dystopischen KIs und dem Auge für die Schönheit der Natur. Aber auch musikalisch tritt es immer hervor, harsche, bedrohliche Synths werden abgelöst durch ein glitchy Lagerfeuerlied, Breakbeats untermalt von träumenden Orgeln, Balalaika jazzen vor sich, Geigen gesellen sich dazu. Doch auch in den schönen Passagen dringt das abgehackte Rauschen der Technik durch diese Momente, manchmal kämpft sich jedoch, wie ein Löwenzahn durch grauen Beton, ein harmonischer Klang zwischen diesen Kolossen der Technologie durch und zeigt das Schöne um uns.

Mal bewusst anhalten, an der kleinen Blume im urbanen Dschungel schnuppern, diesen Moment, dieses Leben genieflen...

Therefore we are sharing this present with all of you, and the basket reveals: the 7-track EP 'Control' by Leonid Shelukhin from St. Petersburg, released under his alias 'mnogo_chelovecheskikh'.

He describes the motif, the universe in which this takes place, as a computer-ruled, dystopian future where the people are so numbed down by this overwhelming technology surrounding, they forgot to stop for a moment instead of rushing, how to admire the beauty of this wonderfully complex nature surrounding us. How to stay in control of yourself and aware of the moment, not led astray into oblivion by the machines...A lot of inspiration, not only for the music but also the booklet, has been the indietronic era of the '00s with bands like The Postal Service, The Notwist and Lali Puna, as well as russian folklore music from two centurys ago.

The motif presents itself in the order and arrangement of the tracks, this discord between dystopian AIs and the eye of the beholder for the innate beauty of our nature. Harsh, dooming synthesizers switch places with a cheerful, yet glitchy campfiresong, breakbeats dream of electric organs, wobbling in tune with them, balalaika jam some jazz with gypsy violins soon joining in. And even in these brief moments of beauty the unwavering noise of the technological world sipps through the sound and distorts it, yet some times a harmony finds its way through this empire of CPUs and wires like a daffodil through concrete, just to give us a glimpse of the ever present beauty around us.

Don't charge through live but hold still for a second, enjoy the smell of flowers in this urban jungle, this moment of beauty, of life.

This Month we present the album „Three“ by Revolutronic.

It´s already the band´s third release on Spheredelic. Both members are residents of Cologne.

They make basically electronic music with additional samples, vocals and guitars. They refuse to stand for any category and devolop their sound experimentally and individually.

Despite the hectic rush of the digital age they invite the listeners to take their time. „Three“ is a diversified album which plays with genres without appealing eclectic. It comes up with many surprise moments and unusual arrangements. The evoked atmosphere is both - chilling and fascinating.

Diesen Monat präsentieren wir das Album „Three“ von Revolutronic.

Es handelt sich dabei um die bereits dritte Veröffentlichung der Band auf Spheredelic.
Beide Mitglieder kommen aus Köln und machen vorwiegend elektronische Musik, die durch Samples, Gesang und Gitarre ergänzt wird.

Sie lassen sich ungern in eine Kategorie stecken, entfalten ihren Klang experimentell und individuell. Entgegen der Hektik des digitalen Zeitalters laden sie die Zuhörer dazu ein, sich Zeit für ihre Musik zu nehmen.

„Three“ ist ein abwechslungsreiches Album, das mit bestehenden Genres spielt ohne eklektisch zu wirken. Es wartet mit vielen Überraschungen und ungewöhnlichen Arrangements auf. Die Atmosphäre, die dabei entsteht, ist entspannt und fesselnd zugleich.
Ein Album weit jenseits des Mainstreams.

Spheredelic bringt euch wieder einen Ohrenschmaus, denn bei uns gibt es kein
Sommerloch!

Multi-Instrumentalist und Philosoph Michael Keith und David Sait verzaubern uns mit ihrem neuen Album "Boketto". Im Vordergrund steht hierbei das Guzheng, ein chinesisches Instrument mit 21 Saiten, wofür David sogar ein eigenes Vokabular verfasst hat.

Auf "Love in Lightforms" kling das Zupfinstrument sehr meditativ und über das Album hinweg erklingt es klar und hell, mit viel Raum um sich zu entfalten. Man hört die Anschläge der einzelnen Noten im Detail, welches dem Gesamtprodukt eine organische Qualität verleiht. 

Auf Tracks wie "Dahlinova Hypnotica" entfaltet es auch eine psychedelische Wirkung, dabei wird es immer von Michaels elektrischer Slide-Gitarre unterstützt. Die Künstler kennen sich schon seit vielen Jahren und das merkt man. Beide Instrumente sind völlig miteinander im Einklang. Michaels Gitarre befindet sich im Hintergrund und steuert sehnsüchtige Klänge bei, die teils einer Geige ähneln, aber eine ganz eigene Tonalität besitzen. Das Guzheng gibt den Ton an und wird sehr detailreich gespielt, während die E-Gitarre
durch langgezogene und akzentuierte Noten die Stimmung noch mehr vertieft.

Auf "Incessant Terrain pt. 1" übernimmt die Gitarre und spielt melancholische Töne die sanft in
die Ferne schweben.

"Boketto" erzeugt Gefühle von Fernweh, ähnlich wie wenn man lange auf den Ozean schaut und sich vorstellt, was auf der anderen Seite liegen könnte. Dabei entsteht allerdings keine Hoffnungslosigkeit, sondern eher ein gewisser Tatendrang, ein Verlangen die Welt zu entdecken.

Spheredelic brings you a feast for the ears again, because with us there is no summer slump!

Multi-instrumentalist and philosopher Michael Keith and David Sait on the Guzheng enchant us with their new record "Boketto". The focus here is on the guzheng, a Chinese instrument with 21 strings, for which David even wrote his own vocabulary.

On "Love in Lightforms" the plucked instrument sounds very meditative and throughout the album in general it sounds clear and bright, with plenty of room to unfold. You can hear the strokes of the individual notes in detail, which gives the overall product an organic quality. It also has a psychedelic effect on tracks like "Dahlinova Hypnotica", always supported by Michael's electric slide guitar. The artists have known each other for many years and you can tell. Both instruments are completely in tune with each other. Michael's guitar is in the background and contributes longing sounds, some of which are similar to a violin, but have their own tonality. The guzheng sets the tone and is played in great detail, while the electric guitar deepens the mood even more with elongated and accentuated notes.

On "Incessant Terrain pt. 1" the guitar takes over and plays melancholic tones that gently float away into the distance.

"Boketto" creates feelings of wanderlust, similar to looking at the ocean for a long time and imagining what could be on the other side. However, this does not result in hopelessness, but rather a certain thirst for action, a desire to discover the world.
