The grand finale of the Spheredelic year is brought to us by Christian Fiesel with his seventh release on the label: "In The Garden Of Decay". It is a real feast for ambient enthusiasts, because it will spoil you for over an hour with gloomy soundscapes, deep reverbs and melancholy walls of synthesizers.
Tracks like "No Lights Over The Empty City" or "Calling The Empty Station" evoke Blade Runner-esque images and go well with the dystopian mood of 2020. "This One Little Piece Of Time" is over 20 minutes long and refreshingly experimental, with well thought-out progression, an intense stereo image and beautiful synth interludes.
The dreamy sounds invite you to brood over the present, awaken hope for the future and remind you of days gone by when everything was a little easier. It's a soundtrack for the evenings when you just want to unwind. A remedy for all the noise and the unrest. A musical accompaniment for quiet nights in which the snow slowly falls and it hides our garden of decay a little bit. One can only hope that next spring may make it bloom again.
